I believe they are the only set made by a Lakota person in many years and the only new set I have ever seen. I did the research for them at the cultural center in Pierre. They are on smoked brain tanned elk hide. The construction is done on lightly smoked, brain tanned Elk Hide and sewn with tendon thread or sinew (Takan) also from an elk my son got. They are decorated with rows of stitched quillwork detailed with horse hair dyed red. The cut and style of the bags is Lakota. Each bag is 14 inches (35cm) long, 9 inches (22.5cm)deep and 1 1/2 inches (3.75cm) in width. The four quillwork strips on each bag are 10 inches (25.4cm) long. The bags would best be displayed in a shadow box with U.V. rated glass. I think they would make a strong addition to any fine collection
